Welcome to the Hub
In the heart of the beautiful Cornish coastal village of Polruan, The Quay Community Arts Hub CIC is a friendly, inclusive, not-for-profit arts space. The Hub is run by volunteers and shaped by the community it serves. We exist to support creativity, connection and shared learning in Polruan and the surrounding areas.
Whether you’re an artist, maker, reader, learner, or simply curious, you’ll find a warm welcome here.
MEMBER-RUN, MEMBER-LED
The Hub is guided by the people who use it. As a member-run and member-led space, we’re excited for the community to shape what happens here - from workshops and exhibitions to informal meetups and shared projects.
The Hub will grow and evolve through the ideas, energy, and imagination of its members.

THE SPACE
Just beyond the Quay and set over two floors, the Hub is a place where people can gather to:

Explore new ideas, or rediscover old favourites
Exchange skills and knowledge
Read, reflect, and experiment
Meet others and find inspiration in a supportive creative environment
Book space to host small-group events
We believe creativity grows through collaboration, curiosity and community participation.

1st OCTOBER - 6-8pm
Photography Group Meeting - October sees the inaugural Photography Group Meeting led by Conrad Ziebland. To kick off discussion at our first meeting, please bring a photo or camera that means something to you.

SHADOW PAINTING COMMUNITY SESSION - this popular communal group activity is a playful, collaborative way to draw, paint or create that's all about looking differently, following the shadows and seeing where they take you. Led by in-house Hub artists Sarah Manners and Anni Mclean; Please book by email.

14th OCTOBER - 1.30-3.30pm
PERSPECTIVE FOR PAINTERS - led by resident artist Louise Kidd, you will learn how to recognise and use perspective in your paintings. Using your own images or choosing from a selection available at the Hub, you will create a beautiful work in acrylic to take home. This is a small group session to maximise learning, so please book your place in advance.

STILL LIFE IN WATERCOLOUR OR ACRYLIC - join resident artist Louise Kidd for another informative and guided still life session.

5th NOVEMBER - 6-8pm
PHOTOGRAPHY GROUP MEETING - the first Thursday of the month. A relaxed, friendly group meeting of like minded locals curious to get the best out of their joy for photography. All levels welcome. If you’d like to join this group email us to find out more.

FESTIVE WORKSHOPS
Get creative this Christmas with our line-up of festive workshops.
26th NOVEMBER 5.30-8pm
Winter Wreath Making with FAWEN - Create your own beautiful evergreen wreath from scratch, using sustainably sourced moss, winter foliage, gathered seed pods, pinecones, berries and flowers from the FAWEN flower field. Alice will guide you through each step. Finish your wreath with velvet ribbon and a little brass bell - then take it home ready to welcome the festive season.
All materials are included. Festive treats will be provided.

Christmas Needle Felting - Get into the festive spirit and create your own needle-felted Christmas Tree. Fully guided by Sharon Duffy, a relaxed creative evening making something lovely for your home or give as a handmade gift.

Starting in September, Wednesdays are free for members!
Whether it’s the Polruan Art Group guided by Louise Kidd, or more casual Open Studio, we are always open to members (and non-members for a small fee) on Wednesdays.
If you’re picking up a brush or pencil for the first time or have years of experience, it doesn’t matter here. A basic range of art materials will be available to borrow or purchase if you do not have your own.
Like the Hub, our Wednesday creative get-togethers are ever evolving so be sure to check the calendar for the latest activity, workshops, and event updates before you join us.
